Raziel Reid won the Governor General’s Award for English-language children’s literature in 2014 for his novel When Everything feels Like the Movies.
At the time of Professor Galloway’s suspension, Reid posted on his personal twitter page critical of UBC’s commitment to due process. In his words: “I sarcastically lambasted the University of British Columbia for its handling of the inquiry.”
He has recently expanded on the issue in an online article titled Warriors, put down your keyboards in this.org magazine. Reid speaks out about the “inequitable series of events which have resulted in slander.” He stresses, “Our constitutional right is to be tried in a court of law, not by social media.”
