A lawyer friend told me that whether or not Steven Galloway did something wrong is irrelevant. He has still been treated abysmally, both legally and immorally.
Legal principles such as presumption of innocence and natural justice that would ensure the rule of law have been ignored by UBC. I am not a writer but I signed the letter to UBC because I was Steven Galloway’s editor and have known him for a long time. He has paid an enormous price for the accusations made against him. There are people who seem to think he deserves to have his reputation and livelihood destroyed. While I have enormous empathy for women who have been assaulted or abused, I would sign the letter again. Everyone deserves due process.
